What a wonderful year this has been – and it’s not over yet…two more days and two more weddings.
I have much gratitude for all my wonderful couples; many travelled great distances to marry in these beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, some lived close by, all invited me into their lives to share their joyous journey. I am honored and grateful. Getting to know each and every couple and learning their stories has enriched me.
What a celebration October 10, 2014 was, when the lifting of the ban on gay marriage was enacted in North Carolina. Celebrating The Freedom of Marriage Act continues every time a same sex couple make the decision to legally marry. Hooray!
2014 was the year that I celebrated my 25th year of doing what I love to do; marrying people. The first marriage ceremony I officiated was October, 1989. As an anniversary gift to myself and my business, I took a leap and chose to change my business name. In 1989 and the ensuing years, it was important to let people know that I was not only available, but happy to officiate interfaith marriages; therefore, to call my business Interfaith Ceremonies was sending a clear message. At that time, it was still dificcult to find someone to perform the ceremony, and especially dificcult to find someone to perform it with an open heart and the attitude that – in this huge world, this couple has miraculously found each other and wish to spend their lives together….Yay!
I finally found a new business name that felt right and looked beautiful in written form.
Once the name was chosen, it was time (way past time) to re-create and update my website, business cards, etc. Thank you to my office manager, Josh Marlan for the unbelievable amount of patience, expertise, creativity and care that he has put into the birthing of my new Beloved Ceremony website.
With great gratitude and satisfaction, I prepare to say goodbye to 2014. Thanks to all who journied with me. With Faith, anticipation and excitement I look ahead to 2015 and those who will stay the path with me as well as those I will meet along the way. it will surely be the best year ever.
